Epson Sustainability Report 2022

This report has been compiled from comprehensive information about Epson’s Sustainability that is available on our website.

Information has been reported in accordance with the Core option of the GRI Standards 2020. In addition to this report, Epson has been working to improve communication with its stakeholders through the publication of an Integrated Report, its website, and other media.

Green Acquisition Strategy

SEP is committed to developing green operating procedures. One of our first initiatives in this area has been to employ an assurance system to monitor our supply chain, from front-tier products to raw materials manufacturers, to decrease our impact on the environment. Through this system, we ensure that that each process for sourcing everything from raw materials to production materials conforms to the criteria and standards set out by the "SEIKO Epson Group Green Purchasing Standard for Production Material." With the implementation of this policy, SEP has been able to fulfil its mission to create and offer eco-friendly products.

TQEM

The Total Quality & Environmental Management (TQEM) programme was established on 22 April 2003 in conjunction with the newly formed Environment and Safety Department. One of the TQEM programme's key areas of focus is the support and protection of our environment. As part of the programme, the People Development (PD) Department aims to nurture and develop professionals, allowing the organization to adapt quickly in a fast-changing competitive environment.

SEP’s business

Running in tandem with SEP's business objectives and goals, the PD Department also looks into employees' aspiration for personal development. Supporting these aspirations will help to realize the full potential of SEP employees, creating a strong manufacturing capability and culture for Epson.

RoHS

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of electronic and electrical products. All chemicals used by SEP for production are RoHS compliant. As stated in the RoHS requirements, our in-house researchers run a regular analysis on lead, cadmium, total chromium and mercury to ensure our compliance with the SEG Green Purchasing Standard, Panasonic's RoHS Standard, and other customer standards.
