Electroless nickel plating is an auto-catalytic reaction used to deposit a coating of nickel on a substrate to prevent corrosion, wear with good uniformity of thickness. However, the disadvantages are limited lifespan and High Waste treatment cost. As such, nickel waste in toxic sludge are generated from current treatment system which are hazardous and harmful to both the environment and human health.

Epson has established A Unique Nickel recovery system for recycling of a spent electroless nickel (EN) plating resulting in reduction on waste treatment and disposal cost, thus it is both economic and environmental friendly. The Recovered Ni Hydroxide can be used to replenish these nickel plating solution.

KMnO₄ Recycling Technology

In the electroplating process, the oxidation of the substrate material is not conducive to the plating, before we deal with the substrate material to the substrate material pre-processing. This process is called bright dipping for steel materials, will immerse the metal in a solution of KMnO4. However, the chemical reaction of the removing of the surface oxide consume a lot of KMnO4. Epson has developed a KMnO4 regeneration system, through recycling, reprocessing, so that companies can greatly reduce the cost of processing.
